KARACHI / QUETTA: The condition of Dr. Mah Noor, the female doctor who was injured in an acid attack in Quetta, has been reported as stable following her transfer to Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), Karachi. Hospital sources confirmed that her eyesight remains intact and she is receiving treatment under the supervision of specialist medical teams.
13 Percent of Body Affected
According to medical assessments, approximately 13 percent of Dr. Mah Noor’s body sustained acid burns, including parts of her face, abdomen, thighs, and right arm.
Although both eyes were affected during the attack, doctors have confirmed that her vision has been preserved.
After receiving initial treatment, she was moved to the hospital’s Special Care Unit, where she continues to be closely monitored.
Brave Rescuer Also Under Treatment
A young man who was injured while attempting to help Dr. Mah Noor during the attack is also receiving medical treatment in Quetta.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti contacted the injured individual, praised his courage, and conveyed his best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Investigation and Police Action
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. According to police, the main suspect, Humayun Shah, was killed in an encounter near the Nushki Bus Terminal after allegedly opening fire while attempting to evade arrest.
The attack has sparked widespread condemnation across Pakistan and intensified calls for stronger security measures to protect healthcare workers, particularly female doctors, from violence and harassment in the workplace.
