Delhi: Five-Storey Boys’ Hostel Building Collapses, 7 Killed; Modi Government Faces Criticism

Islamabad (Web Desk) — At least seven people have been killed after a dilapidated five-storey boys’ hostel building collapsed in the Indian capital, New Delhi. According to reports by the BBC and other international media outlets, most of the residents of the ill-fated building were poor students.

Eyewitnesses told the media that between 24 and 48 people were inside the building when the incident occurred. The tragedy has sparked nationwide debate over the alleged incompetence and criminal negligence of the Modi government.

Political opponents, including the CJP, reacted strongly to the incident, saying that poor Indian students have once again fallen victim to alleged government negligence. Critics sarcastically remarked that while Narendra Modi labeled students at Delhi University as “urban Naxals,” the government allegedly ignored dilapidated buildings and serious public safety concerns, making life increasingly difficult for young people.

Political and social analysts said the Modi government has largely ignored fundamental issues facing the country’s youth, particularly education and employment, prompting protests across India. According to analysts, growing frustration among young people, unresolved problems and continued protests could emerge as a major political challenge for the Hindu nationalist Modi government in the future.
