Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has made it clear that protecting Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and, in particular, the Two Holy Mosques is Pakistan’s foremost priority, and no compromise will be made on this matter.

In an exclusive interview with The Independent Arabia, the DG ISPR said Pakistan’s position on the issue was unequivocal. He added that the country’s clear message had already been formally conveyed through its political leadership and the Field Marshal. He said attempts to target holy sites in Saudi Arabia had sparked strong anger among the Pakistani public as well as the country’s political and military leadership.

Discussing the broader situation in the Middle East, the Pakistan Army spokesperson said prolonging the military conflict was not in the interest of any party and that escalating tensions would benefit no country. He stressed that finding a solution through peaceful negotiations was essential. He warned that if diplomatic efforts failed and military confrontation became inevitable, the collective defence and deterrence mechanism of the “Mecca Alliance” would undoubtedly be activated.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry clarified that the Mecca Alliance’s strategy and leadership’s course of action were clear and that the alliance had no aggressive intentions. He said the coalition was not directed against any particular country; rather, its fundamental objective was to ensure lasting peace, stability and security in the region.

He further stated that Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye were committed to the prosperity and peace of the region’s people, urging the Muslim Ummah to unite rather than become entangled in mutual disputes.
