Islamabad (Staff Reporter): A one-day national and international policy dialogue was held in the federal capital under the auspices of the Child Protection Bureau and the Ministry of Human Rights to ensure a safe digital future for children and address online threats.

Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, experts from various fields and a large number of students attended the event.

Addressing the dialogue, Child Protection Bureau Chairperson Sarah Ahmad said that while the internet plays a vital role in enhancing the creativity of the younger generation, it also exposes children to serious risks, including cybercrime, harassment and exploitation. She stressed that timely measures were essential to prevent such threats.

Australian High Commissioner Timothy Kane also spoke at the event, emphasising the need to create a safe, transparent and supportive digital environment for children.

In his address, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said the Punjab Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution on children’s online safety, sending a clear message to the federal government that practical measures to address this important national issue must be taken on an urgent basis.
