Problems Cannot Be Solved Where Assemblies Are Auctioned, Says PTMAP Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai
Addressing Balochistan Bar Council, Alliance Leader Demands Provincial Rights and Supreme Authority of the 1973 Constitution
The head of the 'Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aeen-e-Pakistan' (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan), Mahmood Khan Achakzai, stated that the complex crises facing Pakistan and Balochistan can only be resolved through truth, transparency, and strict adherence to the constitution. Addressing the Balochistan Bar Council, Achakzai emphasized that merely appeasing a few tribal sardars and nawabs would not address the core grievances of the province.
Lauding the legal fraternity, the veteran politician noted that lawyers understand the immense struggle that went into framing the 1973 Constitution. He remarked that while elections are a routine democratic process, true national progress is impossible without a functioning judiciary and a respected constitution.
'We Are Labeled Traitors for Speaking the Truth' — Achakzai Slams Political Bribery
Achakzai launched a scathing critique of the country's electoral corruption, lamenting that parliamentary seats are frequently bought and sold by affluent individuals. He argued that a system where assemblies are effectively auctioned can never serve the interests of the impoverished masses. The PkMAP chairman further expressed regret that democratic voices are routinely labeled "traitors" for speaking the truth, despite the fact that the Constitution of Pakistan clearly defines both fundamental rights and the parameters of treason.
"Remaining silent in the current political climate is a crime. We do not oppose any institution, but our democratic paths must not be blocked." — Mahmood Khan Achakzai
State Infrastructure Must Not Be Weaponized; Local Populations Hold First Right to Resources
Commenting on national security, Achakzai acknowledged that intelligence agencies are essential for the survival of any state. However, he insisted that the state apparatus and administrative machinery should never be weaponized against political rivals. He vowed that his alliance would not allow the country to be pushed toward civil unrest or internal strife under any circumstances.
Concluding his address, the opposition leader demanded immediate, free, and fair elections across the country. He also reiterated that the local population holds the primary right over the natural resources of Balochistan. Achakzai reminded the audience that his movement comprises genuine, pro-people political parties united under one banner to safeguard civilian supremacy and constitutional governance.
