Petrol Crisis Deepens in Balochistan, Prices Soar to Rs500 per Litre

Quetta: A severe fuel crisis has gripped several districts of Balochistan, where petrol prices have reportedly surged up to Rs500 per litre, while multiple filling stations have temporarily shut down due to supply shortages.

According to details, the shortage of petroleum products has severely disrupted transport and daily life across the province, with fuel availability becoming extremely limited in several areas.

The crisis has intensified in districts including Nushki, Kharan, and Loralai, where some fuel sellers are reportedly charging up to Rs500 per litre due to scarcity and high demand.

In Quetta, several petrol pumps have been forced to close, while operational stations are witnessing long queues of vehicles and motorcycles, with citizens facing hours-long waiting times and severe inconvenience.

Petroleum Dealers Association President Qiamuddin Agha said authorities have increased fuel supply from Shikarpur to control the shortage, expressing hope that the situation will normalize in the coming days.

On the other hand, the Deputy Commissioner Quetta stated that the shortage was mainly caused by the suspension of Iranian fuel supply, which previously met a significant portion of local demand.

He added that 600,000 litres of petrol were supplied to Quetta pumps on Wednesday to stabilize the situation and reduce public pressure.
