SIFC’s Three-Year Performance: Revolutionary Transformation in Pakistan’s Healthcare Sector, Record Rs. 42 Billion Profit

ISLAMABAD: With the strong support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), Pakistan’s healthcare sector has witnessed remarkable growth over the past three years. Driven by policy reforms, smart regulations, and technological advancement, the sector’s overall profit surged by 78% in 2025, reaching a record Rs. 42.2 billion.

These transformative initiatives aim to provide world-class healthcare services, attract foreign investment, and position Pakistan as a regional hub for medical tourism.

National Policies Approved and Local Vaccine Production Boosted

To move the healthcare sector toward self-sufficiency, the Federal Cabinet has approved the National Vaccine Policy, enabling the local production of internationally compliant vaccines in Pakistan.

In addition, the National Blood Transfusion Policy has been implemented nationwide to ensure a safe blood supply and bring plasma production in line with international standards. These measures have strengthened public confidence in the healthcare system and enhanced trust among global health organizations.

Pharmaceutical Sector Growth and Global Recognition for DRAP

Pakistan’s pharmaceutical industry has achieved two significant milestones:

Improved Availability of Medicines:

The deregulation of pricing mechanisms for essential medicines has helped eliminate shortages in the market and curb black-market practices.

WHO Recognition for DRAP:

The Central Drug Testing Laboratory of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has received approval from the World Health Organization (WHO). This landmark achievement is expected to boost the international reputation of Pakistani pharmaceuticals and significantly increase exports.

Expansion of HealthTech, Telemedicine, and Medical Tourism

To attract investment and strengthen healthcare services, SIFC has launched a comprehensive strategy to establish Pakistan as a destination for medical tourism, encouraging international patients to seek high-quality and affordable treatment in the country.

At the same time, new opportunities have been created for HealthTech startups, telemedicine services, and uninterrupted foreign investment in the healthcare sector.

As part of these efforts, SIFC recently facilitated the successful organization of the 30th Annual International Conference of the Pakistan Association of Plastic Surgeons, showcasing the expertise and capabilities of Pakistani medical professionals on the global stage.
