Islamabad: A senior security official, during a significant media briefing, provided a detailed overview of the security situation in Balochistan, terrorism-related threats, development projects, the Reko Diq mining venture, Afghanistan, and ongoing counterterrorism operations.
Terrorism and Propaganda in Balochistan
According to security sources, Fitna al-Hindustan (BLA) is a terrorist organization allegedly backed by India and certain foreign elements. Officials stated that anti-Pakistan actors are attempting to obstruct Balochistan’s development, stability, and prosperity.
The briefing noted that anti-state narratives are being crafted and promoted through social media platforms and foreign-based networks, but these narratives do not reflect the realities on the ground.
Security sources highlighted that more than 18,000 vehicles travel daily across over 32,000 kilometers of roads and highways in Balochistan. However, terrorist groups occasionally target a limited number of vehicles and then seek to portray the overall situation in a negative light.
Alleged Exploitation of Women by Terrorist Groups
Security officials claimed that terrorist organizations are increasingly using women to advance their objectives, a practice they described as contrary to Islamic teachings and traditional Baloch values.
According to the briefing, this strategy has contributed to growing public resentment against terrorist elements across Balochistan.
Importance of Reko Diq and Mineral Development Projects
The briefing emphasized that Reko Diq and other mineral development projects are of critical importance for Balochistan’s economic growth and public welfare. Royalties, investments, and associated economic activities generated by these projects are expected to play a significant role in the province’s development.
Officials noted that the benefits derived from natural resources are not confined to a single area. Through mineral processing, exports, and development initiatives, these projects contribute to the prosperity of both the province and the country as a whole.
Pakistan’s Position on Afghanistan and Terrorism
Addressing developments related to Afghanistan, security sources stated that Pakistan continues to face serious terrorism challenges. They revealed that 32,092 counterterrorism operations have been conducted across the country during the current year.
According to officials, Pakistan has remained in continuous diplomatic engagement with Afghan authorities and has repeatedly urged them to ensure that Afghan territory is not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
Security sources further stated that all diplomatic contacts between Pakistan and Afghanistan have remained transparent and conducted through official channels, while dialogue has consistently been prioritized as a means to eliminate terrorism.
Commitment to National Security
The briefing reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing counterterrorism efforts and taking all necessary measures to safeguard national security, protect citizens, and ensure the development and prosperity of Balochistan and the rest of the country.
