IG FC Balochistan (South) Inaugurates Revamped Jinnah Hospital in Prom, Panjgur

PANJGUR: Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan (South) paid an important visit to the remote border area of Prom in Panjgur district, where he formally inaugurated the newly renovated and fully operational Jinnah Hospital Prom, managed by the Parwaaz Foundation. The initiative aims to provide essential healthcare services to residents of remote areas at their doorstep.

Jinnah Hospital Prom: From Closure to Revival

Jinnah Hospital Prom has a long history but remained inactive for years due to a lack of resources and government attention.

  • 1979: Established as a small dispensary.
  • 1994: Upgraded to a Rural Health Centre (RHC) to meet growing healthcare needs.
  • 2013: Became non-functional due to the deteriorating condition of the building and shortage of resources, leaving local residents without adequate medical facilities.

Recognizing the longstanding healthcare needs of the region, FC Balochistan (South) and the Parwaaz Foundation jointly undertook the restoration and modernization of the facility, transforming it into a functional healthcare center.

Modern Medical Infrastructure and 20-Bed Capacity

As part of the renovation project, the hospital building underwent extensive reconstruction and upgrades.

The damaged roof was completely rebuilt, structural repairs were carried out, and the hospital was expanded into separate wards for men, women, and children with a total capacity of 20 beds.

The facility now includes:

  • A 24-hour pharmacy
  • A state-of-the-art medical laboratory
  • An operation theatre (OT)
  • An emergency department
  • Modern diagnostic and treatment equipment

Healthcare Lifeline for 50,000 Residents

The reopening of Jinnah Hospital Prom is expected to benefit approximately 50,000 residents of Prom and surrounding areas. Previously, patients often had to travel long distances to hospitals in Panjgur or Quetta for even basic medical treatment and emergency care.

Local elders and community representatives welcomed the initiative and praised the efforts of the Pakistan Army, FC Balochistan (South), and the Parwaaz Foundation for addressing a critical public need and improving healthcare access in the region.
