QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhel has assured the print media community of his full support in finding sustainable solutions to the challenges facing newspapers and journals in the province.
Speaking to a delegation of print media editors led by Chairman Balochistan Print Media Syed Anwar Shah, the Governor highlighted the crucial role of print media in promoting responsible journalism, preserving local languages, and strengthening patriotism among the youth.
He said that despite rapid technological advancements, print media continues to serve as an important bridge between the government and the public, particularly in Balochistan's unique social and geographical environment.
Governor Mandokhel noted that the rise of digital platforms and artificial intelligence has created significant challenges for traditional media outlets. He stressed the need for modernization and technological upgrades to ensure that print media remains relevant and influential in the evolving information landscape.
“Newspapers and journals in Balochistan are not only sources of news but also custodians of our national history, language, and literature,” he said.
The Governor described journalism as a major industry that provides employment to thousands of people and appreciated the dedication, professionalism, and integrity of journalists working in both print and electronic media.
He reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting journalists' rights, supporting freedom of expression, and addressing the concerns of media organizations.
During the meeting, members of the delegation briefed the Governor on issues related to media policy, financial challenges, and operational concerns. Governor Mandokhel assured them of his cooperation and support in resolving these matters.
