FIR Registered Against Mahmood Khan Achakzai Over Chaman Rally Speech

CHAMAN: A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai over a speech he delivered during a public gathering in Chaman on May 29.

According to the FIR, authorities allege that Achakzai's remarks incited public sentiment against the government and state institutions, creating unrest among participants at the rally.

The case was registered on the complaint of Abdul Wali Khan, Chairman of the Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society. The FIR includes charges under Sections 153-A, 505, 341, 147, 149, and 131 of the Pakistan Penal Code, covering allegations related to promoting hostility, public disorder, unlawful assembly, rioting, and statements affecting state institutions.

According to the complaint, Achakzai criticized the provincial government's performance, raised concerns about the law and order situation in Balochistan, and made remarks regarding governance and security issues.

Leaders of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party have strongly rejected the allegations, describing the FIR as politically motivated.

PkMAP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Abdul Qahar Khan stated that Achakzai had expressed views that he had previously presented in parliament and accused authorities of attempting to suppress democratic voices through legal action.

The Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) alliance also condemned the FIR, calling it an attack on freedom of expression and democratic values.

Former Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar criticized the move on social media, saying such actions could increase political tensions and further polarize the political environment.

The party has indicated that it will challenge the case through legal channels.
