Doctor Mah Noor Acid Attack: CM Bugti Announces Civil Award for Abdul Razzaq Tareen for Heroic Rescue Effort

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced a civil award for Civil Hospital Quetta employee Abdul Razzaq Tareen, who displayed exceptional courage and humanity in helping Dr. Mah Noor Nisar after she became the victim of an acid attack.

In a message posted on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said that Abdul Razzaq Tareen set a remarkable example of bravery, compassion, and dedication by assisting Dr. Mah Noor during one of the most difficult moments of her life. In recognition of his selfless actions, he will be honored with a civil award.

CCTV footage of the incident shows that moments after the acid attack, Dr. Mah Noor Nisar emerged from a room in severe distress. Abdul Razzaq Tareen immediately rushed to her aid and attempted to cover her with his jacket to provide comfort and protection.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti stated that courageous and compassionate individuals like Abdul Razzaq are valuable assets to society, serving as shining examples of humanity and public service during times of crisis.

The incident occurred on Saturday at Civil Hospital Quetta, where a hospital employee allegedly threw acid on Dr. Mah Noor Nisar, causing injuries to her face, chest, legs, and other parts of her body.

According to police, the suspect was later killed during an encounter with law enforcement agencies while attempting to flee.

Meanwhile, Member of the National Assembly Asifa Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned the attack and recommended to President Asif Ali Zardari that Abdul Razzaq Tareen be awarded one of the country's highest civil honors in recognition of his extraordinary bravery.

After receiving initial medical treatment in Quetta, Dr. Mah Noor Nisar was shifted to Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Hospital sources report that her condition is now stable and out of danger.
