QUETTA: The Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Balochistan, led by Chairperson and Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola, has strongly condemned the acid attack on a female postgraduate doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta, describing it as a grave violation of human dignity and an act of violence against women.
In a joint statement, Ghazala Gola, Shahida Rauf, Farah Azim Shah, and other caucus members said such incidents not only harm the victim but also create fear and insecurity throughout society.
The Women Parliamentary Caucus emphasized that ensuring a safe, dignified, and peaceful working environment for female doctors, healthcare workers, and all working women is a shared responsibility of both the state and society.
The caucus also appreciated the swift response of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, particularly his decision to arrange the transfer of the injured doctor to Karachi via air ambulance for specialized medical treatment.
Members called upon law enforcement agencies to conduct a transparent and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and punished according to the law to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Women Parliamentary Caucus expressed complete solidarity with the affected doctor and her family and conveyed its best wishes for her speedy recovery.
The statement also paid tribute to Abdul Razzaq Tareen for his courageous actions in assisting the victim immediately after the attack. According to the caucus, his response represents an outstanding example of humanity, bravery, and public service.
