Balochistan Health Department Suspends 23 Doctors, Issues Show-Cause Notices to 25

Quetta (Web Desk): The Balochistan Health Department has taken strict disciplinary action against doctors accused of violating service rules, departmental discipline, participating in strikes, and engaging in unauthorized activities. As part of the crackdown, 23 doctors have been suspended, while 25 officers have been issued show-cause notices.

In addition, the registration of five postgraduate (PG) trainee doctors has been suspended, and formal inquiries have been initiated against them.

Strikes in Essential Services Declared Illegal

According to a spokesperson for the Health Department, court directives clearly state that strikes or work stoppages in institutions related to public health and human lives are illegal. The government has reiterated that all public healthcare facilities across Balochistan will remain operational, and strict disciplinary action will be taken against employees absent from essential services.

“The healthcare sector is directly linked to human lives; therefore, any action against public interest or violation of rules and regulations will not be tolerated.”

High-Level Committee Established for Doctors’ Security

To improve security conditions in healthcare institutions, the Government of Balochistan has established a high-level review committee following recommendations from senior medical professionals.

The committee will include senior government officials, experienced doctors, representatives of the Health Department, and security authorities. Its mandate will be to assess law and order conditions in hospitals and recommend measures to enhance the safety and protection of medical staff.

No Compromise on Reforms and Accountability

The provincial government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services and maintaining institutional discipline in all public medical facilities.

Officials stated that efforts to address the legitimate concerns of the medical community and improve the healthcare system will continue. However, there will be no compromise on compliance with the law and service regulations.

Authorities added that all suspension cases will be investigated through a transparent and impartial process to determine the facts and assign responsibility where necessary.
