Afghanistan’s security crisis appears to be intensifying as armed operations by resistance forces against the Taliban regime have increased, challenging government claims of peace and full control across the country.

The anti-Taliban organization Afghanistan United Front has claimed responsibility for targeted attacks on key locations and individuals in the capital Kabul and Kandahar. According to the group, a Taliban special-units checkpoint and a center belonging to the intelligence directorate were targeted in Kabul.

Meanwhile, the group claims that Mullah Thabit, described as a key Taliban commander, was killed during another targeted operation in central Kandahar. Afghanistan United Front claims that Mullah Thabit served as an important accountant within the Taliban’s financial system and was an active member of the notorious Arif Network.
