New Zealand all-rounder Suzie Bates to retire after T20 World Cup 2026

New Zealand (Sports Desk) New Zealand’s renowned all-rounder Suzie Bates has announced that she will retire from international cricket after the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

According to Cricinfo, Bates’ nearly 20-year-long international career will come to an end after the conclusion of the World Cup. She has recently returned to the team after recovering from injury and will be part of the 15-member squad for the upcoming tournament.

Bates said that time has passed very quickly and representing her country has always been a matter of pride for her, adding that her final goal is to win another World Cup.

Debuting in 2006, Suzie Bates is the highest run-scorer in Women’s T20 Internationals and has also delivered outstanding performances in One Day cricket. She has also served as captain of the New Zealand team for seven years.

The current captain paid tribute to her, calling her one of the greatest cricketers in history and acknowledging her outstanding contributions to the game.
