FIFA Awards First U-15 World Cup Hosting Rights to Azerbaijan

Zurich: The Bureau of the FIFA Council has officially awarded Azerbaijan the hosting rights for the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival. The new global youth tournament, designed to promote young football talent, will take place in Azerbaijan from 22 to 31 October 2026, bringing together the next generation of football stars.

Tournament Format and Future Women's Editions

According to FIFA's official announcement, the inaugural tournament will feature U-15 boys' national teams from FIFA's member associations.

FIFA also unveiled its long-term development plan for youth women's football. Under this plan, the 2027 edition will be dedicated exclusively to girls' national teams, while beginning in 2028, separate FIFA U-15 World Cups for boys and girls will be held on a regular basis.

Azerbaijan Awarded Additional Hosting Rights

The Bureau of the FIFA Council also approved several other important decisions aimed at promoting global football.

Co-hosting the FIFA U-20 World Cup: In addition to hosting the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup, Azerbaijan has also secured the right to co-host the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Approval of FIFA ASEAN Cup Regulations: The Bureau formally approved the regulations governing the FIFA ASEAN Cup, aimed at strengthening football development across the region.

ASEAN Cup Schedule: The first edition of the FIFA ASEAN Cup will be held during September and October this year, with the objective of enhancing the standard of football in the region.
