Economic Reforms Bear Fruit: Significant Increase in Public Confidence

Clear signs of stability and recovery have begun to emerge in Pakistan’s economy. Following recent economic policies and reforms, rising consumer satisfaction and positive indicators are creating new hope for the country’s development. International financial institutions have also endorsed the government’s measures aimed at improving and stabilizing Pakistan’s economy.

Encouraging Results of the IPSOS Survey

A recent Consumer Confidence Index survey conducted by leading global market research company IPSOS has highlighted a major and positive shift in the economic outlook of the Pakistani public. According to the survey, the country’s overall consumer confidence index increased by 0.4 points to reach 33.6.

The most notable improvement has been observed in public perceptions. In August 2024, only 11 percent of respondents believed that the country was moving in the right direction, but the figure has now increased to 24 percent. Similarly, the proportion of people expecting economic conditions to improve has nearly doubled from just 12 percent two years ago to 23 percent.

Improvement in Purchasing Power and Investment Confidence

Economic conditions and purchasing power among the public are also gradually improving, as reflected in the survey findings:

Everyday Expenses: Satisfaction with the ability to make routine purchases of essential household goods increased by 3 percentage points to 10 percent.

Major Purchases: Consumer confidence regarding major purchases such as a house or vehicle increased by 2 percentage points, reaching 7 percent.

Investment Confidence: Confidence regarding investment in the country remains at 15 percent, showing overall stability over the past year.

Overall, the Global Consumer Confidence Index has also recorded notable improvement in Pakistan with regard to employment, investment and economic conditions, signaling renewed optimism about the country’s economic future.
