KP Residents Express Frustration, Call for Chief Minister’s Removal and Governance Reforms
Residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have reportedly expressed strong dissatisfaction with the performance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government and called for Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to be removed from office. They said that merely changing administrative faces would not be enough to restore peace and eliminate terrorism from the province, arguing that fundamental changes in overall policy and governance were necessary.
Criticizing the provincial government, residents claimed that there was little visible progress on practical development projects in the province. They alleged that the government’s attention had largely remained focused on visits to Adiala Jail and protest slogans at D-Chowk.
The residents also appealed to the judiciary to take notice of PTI’s activities, declare the party unlawful and impose restrictions on its leadership from engaging in politics.
They further said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa urgently needed a serious and empowered government capable of formulating a comprehensive and effective strategy against terrorism. They stressed that the police should be granted full operational authority and that the administrative structure of the provincial police should remain free from political interference.
