A Fight for Life in Six Days of Snow

Lahore (Sports Desk): A Nepalese Sherpa guide, Dawa, who survived after being missing for six days on Mount Everest—the world’s highest peak—has shared his extraordinary story of survival.

According to Dawa, he spent six extremely difficult days in freezing mountain conditions. During this time, he quenched his thirst by chewing snow and survived by eating chocolates he had in his pockets.

The Sherpa guide said that he was not actually “lost,” but had to stop on the way due to his oxygen supply running out, after which he became separated from his companions.

Dawa is currently under treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu, where he is being treated for severe dehydration, extreme cold exposure, and a broken bone.

It is worth noting that the Nepalese Sherpa guide was found alive after being missing for nearly a week. Despite harsh weather conditions and a lack of food and supplemental oxygen, his survival has been described as an extraordinary event.

The 52-year-old Dawa was descending after attempting to summit with a Polish climber when contact was lost between Camp III and Camp IV. Both climbers were unable to reach their destination.

His family had begun preparations for his funeral after he had been missing for a long period, but his safe recovery brought a wave of joy to relatives and friends.
