Tensions continue along the disputed border areas between India and China, where Indian Border Police chief Shatrujeet Kapoor has reportedly acknowledged weaknesses in India’s defensive position against China.

Shatrujeet Kapoor admitted that clashes between Indian and Chinese forces in Arunachal Pradesh were continuing and that India could no longer counter China effectively through conventional military methods. He said China had invested heavily in modernising its armed forces, enabling it to move far ahead of India in military capabilities.

According to a report by Indian media outlet CNN-News18, clashes between the armed forces of the two countries continued along the border even during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India in September.

Defence and security experts argue that relations between India and all its neighbouring countries have become strained under the Modi government, exposing what they describe as the weaknesses behind New Delhi’s defence claims. According to these experts, India’s difficulties in confronting China and its previous setbacks at the hands of the Pakistan Army are clear indications of the failures of the Modi government’s security and foreign policies.
