QUETTA: The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 across the province for 30 days as part of heightened security measures against potential terrorist threats.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department, the restrictions came into immediate effect and include a ban on the public display of weapons, pillion riding on motorcycles, and gatherings of five or more people.
The order also prohibits covering faces with masks, mufflers, or any other material in public places to ensure clear identification of individuals.
Authorities said all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, police officials, and relevant departments have been directed to strictly enforce the restrictions. Legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the orders.
Media Assistant to the Home Department Babar Yousafzai said that following the enforcement of Section 144, double riding on motorcycles and gatherings of more than four individuals have been banned throughout the province.
He stated that security forces remain on high alert to counter any possible threats posed by banned outfits, including what the state describes as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
“Any campaign or misadventure by banned organisations will be responded to strongly and decisively,” Yousafzai said.
He added that security institutions have completed all necessary preparations to deal with any untoward situation and ensure public safety across Balochistan.
