KARACHI – In a strategic move to foster civic responsibility, the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has officially launched its social mobilization campaign, "Safai Ke Safeer" (Ambassadors of Cleanliness). The initiative aims to bridge the gap between institutional efforts and public participation to ensure a sustainable waste management ecosystem in the metropolis.
A Citizen-Led Movement for Urban Hygiene
The campaign focuses on educating the masses about their role in environmental preservation. By shifting the narrative from a purely administrative task to a people-driven movement, the SSWMB hopes to instill a sense of ownership among Karachi’s residents.
"Modern waste management systems must go hand in hand with behavioral change," stated SSWMB Managing Director Tariq Ali Nizamani. "We are engaging influential voices to inspire positive action within our communities."
Ramzan Chhipa Leads the Charge
The campaign’s inaugural video message features renowned social worker Ramzan Chhipa. In his address, Chhipa emphasized that a "clean, green, and healthy Karachi" is a collective dream that requires every individual to dispose of waste responsibly.
Key Highlights of the Campaign:
Influencer Engagement: High-profile personalities from various sectors will release video messages in phases.
Social Mobilization: Led by Kashif Siddiqui, the project aims to transform public habits through visual storytelling.
Sustainability: Emphasis on long-term behavioral shifts rather than temporary cleanup drives.
