Kabul: Armed resistance groups opposing the Taliban administration have expanded their operations across several Afghan provinces, with the Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) releasing a detailed account of 21 major operations against Taliban forces over the past month.

Badakhshan Emerges as Main Focus, Military Airfields in Kabul and Kunduz Targeted

According to official statements issued by the Afghanistan Freedom Front, the reported operations took place between July 23 and August 22, with the northeastern province of Badakhshan serving as the primary area of activity. Intense clashes were reported around Zebak and Faizabad.

Key Targets and Developments

• Affected provinces: In addition to Badakhshan, alleged guerrilla attacks targeted Taliban positions in Baghlan, Nangarhar, Faryab, Nuristan and Panjshir.
• Strategic installations targeted: Military airfields in Kabul and Kunduz were reportedly targeted with rockets and long-range weapons.
• Damage to equipment and positions: The AFF claimed attacks on Taliban military convoys, security checkpoints, drones and defensive facilities, along with advances toward key positions. Reports also indicated casualties and material losses among Taliban forces.

Defence Experts Question Taliban’s Military Grip

According to defence and strategic analysts, the reported increase in coordinated operations by the Afghanistan Freedom Front, National Resistance Front (NRF) and Afghanistan United Front presents a significant challenge to the Taliban administration’s security claims.

Experts argue that the growing number of attacks on key logistical routes and military facilities across Afghanistan could indicate increasing pressure on the Taliban’s security infrastructure and military control.
