Armed Group Seizes Yaftal District Headquarters and Captures Large Quantity of Weapons from Taliban Personnel

Kabul — A dramatic attack by an anti-Taliban armed group in Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province has raised serious questions over the Taliban regime’s claims of maintaining peace and security.

According to Afghan media reports, anti-Taliban forces attacked the central headquarters of Yaftal district, maintained control of the area for several hours, and raised their flag at the compound.

Details of the Attack and Siege of the District Headquarters

During the assault, the anti-Taliban forces reportedly disarmed Taliban personnel and seized a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment from the district headquarters.

Temporary Control of the Area: Following the armed attack, the opposing group maintained control over the centre of Yaftal district for several hours.

Flag Raised at Headquarters: After entering the headquarters building, the armed forces raised their own flag.

Seizure of Weapons: The attackers took military equipment and ammunition from the district headquarters before leaving the area.

Two prominent armed movements—the Freedom Front and the National Resistance Front—are currently active in several Afghan provinces, including Badakhshan.
