Mudaraba fraud case verdict: Accountability Court sentences 7 accused, imposes Rs 1.48 billion fine

Quetta (Balochistan News Desk)The Accountability Court Islamabad has announced its verdict in the NAB Mufti Ehsan-ul-Haq reference case, sentencing seven individuals involved in an alleged financial fraud under the name of Mudaraba.

The court also imposed a total fine exceeding Rs 1.48 billion on all the accused.

According to the verdict, Zubair Muhammad Khan was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment and fined Rs 2.482 billion, Kashif Shahab received 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 4.484 billion, while Asif Shahab was also sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 4.746 billion.

Kamran Akhtar was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 124 million, Muhammad Suleman received 2.5 years imprisonment and Rs 1.474 billion fine, Nauman was given 2 years imprisonment and Rs 897 million fine, while Abdullah Liaqat was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and Rs 610 million fine.

The report stated that all the accused were declared absconders in 2013 and were later arrested in 2023.
