More Than 1,400 Muslim Families Displaced for Adani Project in Assam
In the Indian state of Assam, the Modi government has reportedly displaced a large Muslim population in connection with the economic interests of businessman Gautam Adani, who is described in the source as a close business associate of the government.
According to a report by Indian magazine Scroll.in, the homes of more than 1,400 Muslim families in Assam were demolished by bulldozers to make way for an Adani Power project. The government action reportedly displaced around 10,000 Muslims who had been living in the area for nearly four decades.
The report further claimed that since 2016, during Modi’s tenure, Muslim communities have repeatedly been targeted through bulldozer drives. It also alleged that at least eight Muslims have been killed while resisting such controversial actions during BJP rule.
