Irrfan Khan’s lost film released after 25 years, fans left emotional

Mumbai (Showbiz Desk)A rare and long-lost film of legendary Indian actor Irrfan Khan has been released six years after his death, leaving fans surprised and deeply emotional.

According to Indian media reports, on the occasion of Irrfan Khan’s sixth death anniversary, his and actress Vidya Balan’s unreleased film “The Last Tenant” has been released on YouTube.

The film remained missing from public view for nearly 25 years and has now been made available to audiences for the first time. Within days of its release, it has been viewed over 200,000 times, reflecting strong audience interest and emotional attachment.

The film was originally made in 2000 on a limited budget, directed by Sarthak Dasgupta, with joint production efforts involved.

The story revolves around a broken-hearted musician who takes refuge in an abandoned house before moving abroad, where loneliness and memories of the past turn into a symbolic journey.

Vidya Balan called the film’s release an emotional moment in her career, saying it holds special significance as it is her only on-screen collaboration with Irrfan Khan.

According to the filmmaker, the original footage was lost, which is why the completed project remained unreleased for decades, and has now been presented as a tribute to Irrfan Khan.
