Health Minister Mustafa Kamal Arrives in Geneva for 79th World Health Assembly
Pakistan to Showcase National Health Reforms, Digital Health Initiatives, and Universal Coverage on Global Stage
GENEVA: Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Mustafa Kamal, has arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, to represent Pakistan at the upcoming World Health Assembly (WHA) session. According to an official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, the Minister will lead the Pakistani delegation at this high-level global summit.
Presenting Pakistan’s Strategic Healthcare Roadmap
During the assembly, the Federal Minister is scheduled to present Pakistan’s core national health priorities, ongoing structural reforms, and strategic healthcare initiatives before the international community.
"Pakistan is committed to aligning its national health goals with global standards, focusing heavily on resilient healthcare infrastructure and equitable access," the Ministry’s spokesperson stated.
Focus on Universal Health Coverage and Digital Innovation
The high-profile event, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), is convening from May 18 to May 23, 2026. Member states from across the globe will gather to deliberate on international health policies, budgetary allocations, and global healthcare priorities.
Minister Mustafa Kamal will effectively articulate Pakistan’s stance on critical healthcare sectors, with a primary focus on:
Universal Health Coverage (UHC): Expanding essential health services to underserved populations.
Digital Health Infrastructure: Integrating technology to streamline healthcare delivery and data management.
Global Health Security: Collaborating on pandemic preparedness and cross-border health challenges.
The Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with health ministers of various member states and heads of international organizations on the sidelines of the assembly to foster mutual cooperation.
