Hajj 2026 Begins: Thousands of Pilgrims Converge on Tent City of Mina Ahead of Arafat Day

Strict Logistics and Transport Grid Protocols Activated for Millions of Faithful

The annual Hajj pilgrimage has officially commenced as hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from across the globe began arriving in the historic tent city of Mina on Monday. Moving in an organized, rhythmic influx, the faithful are utilizing specialized shuttle buses, the Mashaaer Al-Mugaddassah Metro line, and dedicated pedestrian pathways to reach their designated camps.

The movement to Mina marks the first major logistical phase of the spiritual journey, where pilgrims will spend the night in prayer and supplication.

Security and administrative authorities in Saudi Arabia have deployed comprehensive operational strategies to ensure a seamless transit flow. The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed that all field service groups are fully operational, providing medical, logistical, and safety support along the routes connecting Makkah and Mina.

The pilgrimage will reach its spiritual pinnacle tomorrow, Tuesday, when the massive congregation moves toward the Plains of Arafat to perform Waqoof-e-Arafat (the stay at Arafat)—the core, non-negotiable ritual of the Hajj. Pilgrims will listen to the Hajj sermon at Masjid al-Namirah and engage in intense prayers from noon until sunset before progressing to Muzdalifah.
