FIA Turbat wing arrests 34 undocumented Afghan nationals, including women and children, during an operation in Balochistan’s CPEC road area.
QUETTA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested 34 undocumented Afghan nationals, including men, women, and children, during an operation in Balochistan while they were allegedly travelling towards Gwadar.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the operation was conducted by the FIA Turbat wing after authorities received intelligence about suspicious cross-border movement in the area. Acting on the tip-off, FIA officials raided the CPEC road area and detained the undocumented foreign nationals.
Officials said the group had allegedly entered Pakistan without valid travel documents and was attempting to reach Iran through the Gwadar route.
The FIA spokesperson stated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal migration, human smuggling, and undocumented cross-border travel in the region.
Following preliminary interrogation, a case was registered against the detained Afghan nationals, while further investigations are underway to identify facilitators and networks allegedly involved in assisting their movement.
The agency said strict legal action would continue against human traffickers and individuals involved in illegal migration activities.
Officials did not disclose further details regarding the identities of those arrested or the exact location from where they entered Pakistan. However, FIA said the investigation would focus on tracing the networks allegedly operating along the coastal route towards Iran.
The arrests come amid intensified enforcement measures against undocumented migration and human smuggling operations in Balochistan.
