BAP Chief Khalid Hussain Magsi Rejects Reports of Merger With PML-N

QUETTA: Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) President Nawabzada Khalid Hussain Magsi on Wednesday rejected reports suggesting that the party was planning to merge with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), saying BAP would continue to function as an independent political force.

Speaking to reporters at the Governor House after attending a civil awards distribution ceremony, Magsi stated, “BAP will not merge into any other political party; instead, others will merge into BAP.”

The BAP chief said the party remained stable despite facing difficult political circumstances and the departure of some members over time.

He maintained that BAP would continue to play an important role in the province’s politics in the coming years.

Magsi, who also serves as the federal minister for science and technology, said it was common for political workers to change affiliations, but added that the party itself remained relevant and intact.

Responding to questions regarding reports of a power-sharing arrangement in Balochistan, Magsi said he had also heard such claims but noted that only the leadership of the parties involved could confirm whether the reports were accurate.

He urged political circles and the media to avoid spreading rumours and speculation, saying such discussions were not in the interest of the province.

According to Magsi, political uncertainty shifts attention away from important public issues and creates unnecessary confusion regarding political alignments and future arrangements.

During the media interaction, the BAP president also commented on the security situation in Balochistan, saying security challenges had made travel across different areas of the province more difficult compared to the past.

He added that he would consult Provincial Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gello regarding matters related to his personal security arrangements.

Magsi reiterated that BAP remained united despite internal political changes and firmly rejected suggestions that the party was preparing to dissolve into another political party.
