QUETTA: Universities across Balochistan have received Rs2.93 billion in financial support from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) during fiscal year 2025-26, reflecting continued assistance for higher education institutions in the province.
According to official documents, the HEC continued providing financial support through recurring grants, supplementary allocations, and tenure-track funding mechanisms.
The University of Balochistan (UoB), Quetta, received the largest share with a recurring grant of Rs948.805 million. The university also received Rs10 million in supplementary funding and Rs39.549 million under tenure-track support.
Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta, received Rs698 million during FY2025-26. The university had received Rs722 million in FY2024-25 and Rs825 million in FY2023-24.
Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University, Quetta, received Rs282 million during FY2025-26 compared to Rs313 million in the previous fiscal year.
The University of Turbat received Rs173 million, while the University of Loralai was allocated Rs136 million for FY2025-26.
Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal, received Rs327 million, while Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology, Khuzdar, received Rs291 million.
Meanwhile, Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta, continued to receive an annual allocation of Rs20 million.
The documents showed that recurring grants remained the largest component of funding for universities in the province.
Overall allocations for universities in Balochistan stood at Rs3.30 billion in FY2023-24, Rs3.10 billion in FY2024-25, and Rs2.93 billion in FY2025-26.
Officials said the allocations reflect continued support for operational, academic, and institutional requirements of higher education institutions across Balochistan.
