Balochistan Reviews RISE Program to Empower Youth and Marginalized Communities
QUETTA: Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakil Qadir Khan chaired a high-level meeting to review the province’s flagship RISE program aimed at empowering youth, marginalized communities, and underdeveloped regions through economic opportunities and skill development initiatives.
Senior officials from relevant departments and program representatives attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary said the provincial government is taking major steps to provide dignified employment, modern skills, and self-reliance opportunities for the youth of Balochistan. He added that the RISE program would help reduce unemployment and contribute to sustainable development, peace, and prosperity across the province.
The initiative will focus on remote and underdeveloped districts including Panjgur, Kharan, Washuk, Gwadar, Awaran, and Kech/Turbat. Thousands of young people are expected to benefit from technical training, financial assistance, small business support, and stability projects under the program.
Officials informed the meeting that multiple district-level seminars promoting peace and social harmony had already been organized, with thousands of participants attending, including women. Grants have also been awarded to strengthen community-based and local support organizations.
The program has further facilitated study visits, awareness campaigns, sports activities, and social cohesion events for youth at district and provincial levels.
Under the upcoming Enterprise Development Program, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will receive financial assistance, while deserving individuals under technical and vocational training schemes are also being supported.
Chief Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan reiterated the government’s commitment to integrating Balochistan’s youth into the national development mainstream, stating that the province’s young population has immense talent and deserves equal opportunities for growth and success.
