Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announces reforms to modernise B-TEVTA, focusing on technical education, vocational training, and youth employment opportunities.
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced major reforms to modernise the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA), with a focus on equipping youth with market-oriented and internationally competitive skills.
Chairing the 10th board meeting of B-TEVTA in Quetta, the chief minister said technical education and vocational training were essential to empower young people and improve employment opportunities at both national and international levels.
Bugti said it was not possible for the government to provide jobs to every young person in the province, making skills development and vocational training crucial for promoting self-reliance among youth.
He stated that the provincial government aims to prepare young people according to modern market demands so they can secure better employment opportunities in various sectors.
The meeting was attended by Adviser for Labour and Manpower Sardar Ghulam Rasool Umrani, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, and senior officials from relevant departments.
During the session, participants reviewed and approved several agenda items related to institutional reforms, performance improvement, financial discipline, and annual financial matters.
The chief minister directed authorities to take extraordinary steps to make B-TEVTA more effective, active, and aligned with modern technological requirements.
He emphasized the need to introduce advanced technology and industry-focused training programmes across the province to strengthen the vocational education sector.
Bugti also instructed officials to modernise existing training programmes to ensure that youth receive technical education linked with improved employment opportunities.
The chief minister further announced that a comprehensive strategy would be prepared in consultation with experts to promote technical education and vocational skills development in Balochistan.
He said institutional reforms would be implemented to restructure technical training institutes on modern lines, adding that equipping youth with globally competitive skills has become essential in today’s changing job market.
