Anti-Muslim Hate Against Women Raises Fresh Concerns in India

New Delhi — Growing concerns have emerged over the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) to target Muslim women in India. According to an investigative report by Al Jazeera, deepfake technology and AI-generated content are increasingly being used to create fake and explicit images and videos of Muslim women without their consent, raising serious human rights and privacy concerns.

The report states that original photos and videos of Muslim women are allegedly manipulated using AI tools to create fabricated and offensive content, which is then circulated online. Rights advocates say these campaigns are intended to harass victims, damage their reputations, and cause psychological and social harm.

Indian human rights advocate Sameer said that publicly available photographs of Muslim women are being altered through AI without their knowledge or permission, falsely depicting them in inappropriate situations.
