The Taliban regime ruling Afghanistan has made life increasingly difficult for the Afghan people by imposing a misleading interpretation of Islamic teachings to serve its own interests.

According to the British newspaper The Telegraph:

  • The Taliban regime’s ban on corneal transplantation could deprive hundreds of people every year of sight-saving surgeries.
  • The regime has declared corneal transplantation contrary to Islamic teachings and issued orders directing surgeons to stop performing the procedures, The Telegraph reported.
  • The British newspaper described the decision as another recent directive restricting access to healthcare services since the Taliban took power.

According to ophthalmologist Dr Noor Zaman Hashim:

- The Taliban issued verbal instructions, and no one has the courage to defy the order due to the risk of severe punishment, he told The Telegraph.

According to social experts:

- The Taliban regime’s measures, which they describe as detrimental to the public, have deprived Afghans of access to basic healthcare facilities and made their lives increasingly difficult.
