New Delhi (Web Desk): Concerns over the situation of India's Muslim minority have intensified amid allegations of discrimination, communal hostility, and restrictions on civil rights. Critics of the Modi government argue that the growing influence of Hindutva politics has placed additional pressure on millions of Indian Muslims, with concerns also being raised over access to education, religious freedom, and equal treatment under the law.

Allegations of Discrimination in Educational Institutions and Protests

According to a report by Indian publication National Herald, Muslim student Farah Naz described alleged mistreatment by Indian police during a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar.

She reportedly said:

• Police Violence and Detention: "I was kept inside a police vehicle for several hours because I am Muslim."
• Communal Discrimination: She alleged that police officers called protesters "traitors" and threatened to maintain separate lists of Muslim demonstrators.
• Online Harassment: She also alleged that Muslims continue to be targeted on social media platforms and described as "traitors."

Growing Concerns Over Religious and Civil Rights

The allegations have renewed debate over the treatment of India's Muslim minority and concerns regarding equality, freedom of expression, and religious rights. Critics argue that repeated incidents of alleged discrimination and communal hostility are inconsistent with democratic principles and fundamental human rights.

The situation has also revived discussions in Pakistan about Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's political vision and the Two-Nation Theory, particularly regarding the concerns he expressed about the future security and political rights of Muslims in a Hindu-majority India.
