Sharp decline in Pakistan Stock Exchange, index drops by thousands of points

Karachi (Commerce Desk) The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a negative trend on the last working day of the week, with strong bearish pressure observed throughout trading.

At the start of trading, the benchmark index fell by more than 2,500 points, dropping to 166,380 points. Later, at the close of the first trading session, the index settled at 167,000 points after a decline of 2,172 points.

A total of 490 million shares were traded during the session, with a market value of 12.84 billion rupees.

A day earlier, the market had also closed in negative territory, losing 2,405 points and finishing at 169,173 points.

Meanwhile, Asian stock markets showed a mixed trend, with gains recorded in Japan and Malaysia, while Indonesia, China, and Hong Kong markets closed lower.
