Recently, a video from a celebration held to mark the success of his new film Raja Shivaji spread rapidly online. In the clip, Riteish Deshmukh was seen celebrating while wearing a shirt featuring the image of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Following the video's circulation, criticism emerged from some quarters, and various speculations began to spread.
Responding to the situation, Riteish Deshmukh released a detailed statement on his social media account. He said that he holds immense respect and reverence for Shivaji Maharaj and had absolutely no intention of showing any form of disrespect.
He explained that the shirt in question was part of the film's promotional campaign and that he was wearing it during the celebration event. According to him, the viral video was presented in a misleading manner, which gave rise to an unnecessary controversy.
Riteish Deshmukh also rejected rumors claiming that he was under the influence of alcohol during the event. He stated clearly that he has never consumed alcohol in his life and that there is no truth to such claims being circulated about him.
In his statement, he further said that the entire team had organized a small celebration in response to the extraordinary appreciation the film received from audiences. A glimpse of that event later went viral on social media. He added that he respects public sentiments and regrets if anyone felt offended, but emphasized that his intentions were never disrespectful.
According to Riteish Deshmukh, the personality of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is deeply respected by him, and he has always admired and valued his character, leadership, and contributions.
