Islamabad (Health Desk) The number of registered AIDS cases in the country has reached 84,000, out of which 61,000 individuals are currently under treatment, while the remaining patients have not yet been traced.

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal stated during a press conference that out of the $65 million AIDS programme, $61.1 million has been released to UNDP and a non-governmental organization named “Nai Zindagi.”

He said that in 2020, screening of 37,944 citizens was conducted at 49 centers across the country, out of which 6,910 individuals were diagnosed with the HIV virus.

According to the Federal Health Minister, the government is taking various steps for disease prevention and treatment of affected individuals; however, there is a need to further improve effective monitoring and timely diagnosis of cases.
