Mumbai: Veteran Indian actress, television host, and columnist Pooja Bedi has reacted strongly to actress Shilpa Shinde's reported admission that a sexual harassment case filed by her was false.
During a recent interview, Shilpa Shinde stated that the sexual harassment complaint she had lodged against Sanjay Kohli, the producer of the popular television show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, was not based on actual events. The statement has sparked fresh debate within the entertainment industry.
Pooja Bedi said that it is deeply unfortunate when laws designed to protect victims are used for personal gain, revenge, or publicity. According to her, false allegations can damage the lives and reputations of innocent people while also making it more difficult for genuine victims to obtain justice.
Actor, singer, and writer Karan Oberoi also commented on the issue, saying that the greatest harm caused by false cases is suffered by real victims. He stressed that individuals should not face hardship solely on the basis of allegations and called for thorough investigations to be ensured in such matters.
