Islamabad: Pakistan’s successful mediation in securing a ceasefire and facilitating the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran has reportedly triggered visible concern among political circles in India and Israel. According to observers of international affairs, efforts to undermine Pakistan’s diplomatic role have once again brought regional rivalries into focus.
The issue gained further attention after Israel’s ambassador to India, in an interview with an Indian news agency, criticized Pakistan’s involvement in the diplomatic process.
“Pakistan is not our friend, and we do not see it as a positive negotiating party. We would like to see other countries move forward, not a country like Pakistan. We do not consider Pakistan among the countries we want involved in this process.”
Analysts note that while Israel has objected to Pakistan’s role in Middle Eastern diplomacy, US officials have also expressed concerns in recent months regarding actions that could complicate regional ceasefire efforts.
International affairs expert Omar Karim stated that Pakistan played a key role in facilitating communication and diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran, helping create conditions that eventually led both sides toward negotiations in Switzerland.
Political and defense analysts believe Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement helped reduce tensions at a critical moment, contributing to efforts aimed at avoiding a broader regional conflict that could have affected international stability and the global economy.
