Opportunities for actresses decline with age, says Taapsee Pannu

Mumbai (Showbiz Desk) Renowned Indian actress Taapsee Pannu has expressed concern over age-based discrimination against female artists in the film industry. She said that after the age of 30, it becomes more difficult for actresses to secure quality and prominent roles compared to earlier stages of their careers.

Speaking ahead of the release of her new movie Gandhari, Taapsee Pannu said that she entered the Hindi film industry at around the age of 25. According to her, it takes many years for an actress to prove her talent and establish her identity, but once she reaches that stage, opportunities become limited because of her age.

Taapsee Pannu said that there are numerous roles in the film industry that do not necessarily require a young actress. However, despite this, younger faces are generally preferred for most projects.

She also emphasized that male actors are usually not treated in the same way and continue to receive leading roles even as they grow older.
