Muzafarabad Helicopter Crash: Funeral of Martyrs Held at Chaklala Garrison with Full Military Honors
Rawalpindi, 11 June 2026: The funeral prayers of the personnel martyred in the tragic MI-17 helicopter crash in Muzaffarabad were held today at Chaklala Garrison, Rawalpindi, with full military honors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir (Nishan-e-Imtiaz Military, Hilal-e-Jurat), the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, Information Minister, senior civil and military officials, families of the martyrs, and people from different walks of life attended the ceremony.
Earlier, the last rites of two Christian soldiers martyred in the incident were performed at Christ Church, Rawalpindi, where political and military leadership also paid tribute to the martyrs.
Prime Minister’s tribute
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the dedication, professionalism, and unmatched resolve of the martyrs in defending the country and ensuring national security will remain a guiding light for future generations. He reaffirmed that the sacrifices made by the armed forces for peace, security, and national sovereignty can never be forgotten.
He further stated that the entire nation stands with the families of the martyrs in this difficult time and will always honor their sacrifices with great respect.
According to ISPR, the martyrs will be laid to rest in their native areas with full military honors.
