Lahore (Commerce Desk) The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has clarified misinformation circulating regarding solar licensing and has explained the actual regulatory framework.
According to NEPRA officials, approval is required for all on-grid solar net metering users; however, approvals for systems up to 25 kW already fall under the jurisdiction of distribution companies.
Officials clarified that off-grid solar systems are not part of NEPRA’s approval process. Previously, systems above 25 kW required NEPRA’s approval.
The statement further said that for on-grid solar connections, a one-time fee per kilowatt is charged and no new tax has been imposed on solar users.
