Islamabad (Health Desk)A new study from Edith Cowan University has revealed an important finding that building muscle strength, size, and performance does not necessarily require extremely intense or exhausting workouts.
According to Professor Ken Nosaka, Director of the School of Exercise and Sports Science at the university, the common belief that exercise must be difficult and painful often discourages people from maintaining fitness routines.
He said that instead, focusing on “eccentric exercise” can deliver better results with less effort, and it does not even require going to a gym.
Eccentric exercise involves muscles working while they are being stretched—for example, slowly lowering a dumbbell, walking downstairs, or maintaining control while sitting down on a chair.
The study found that this type of exercise allows muscles to generate greater force while using less energy, making it more efficient compared to traditional workouts.
