Tel Aviv (Monitoring Desk) — An unusually large presence of US military aircraft has been reported at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv, leading to increased pressure on airport air operations.
According to foreign media reports, dozens of US refuelling aircraft remained stationed at the airport during the month of May, while similar increases in military aircraft activity had also been observed in previous periods.
Due to this situation, civil aviation authorities have expressed concerns that rising military activity at the airport is affecting commercial flights and normal civil aviation operations.
Reports further suggest that some Israeli airlines have had to relocate their aircraft abroad in order to reduce operational pressure.
