Kabul / Washington (Web Desk) — Nearly five years after the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, the Afghanistan United Front (AUF) has announced the launch of a nationwide armed campaign against the Taliban.

Appearing in the uniform of the former Afghan National Army and standing alongside Afghanistan's tricolor national flag, former senior military commander General Sami Sadat announced that, at 5:00 a.m. Kabul time, he had ordered the start of military operations against Taliban forces on multiple fronts.

According to General Sami Sadat, political and diplomatic efforts with the Taliban have failed, while the international community has, in his view, ignored the appeals of the Afghan people and civil society over the past five years.
