Education Crisis and Paper Leak Scandal: Indian Youth Protest Against Modi Government

New Delhi: Protests by Indian youth have intensified against the Modi government’s authoritarian policies following failures in the education system, the paper leak scandal and a rise in student suicides.

Thousands of students, parents, political activists and civil society members, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), are marching towards Parliament to demand educational reforms and justice.

Police Violence and Baton Charge

According to a BBC report, Indian police used severe baton charges and tear gas to stop the students’ peaceful march towards Parliament. However, the police action appeared unable to weaken the protesters’ determination.

Sonam Wangchuk’s Detention and Demand for Modi’s Resignation

Students reacted angrily after prominent social activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk was allegedly forcibly taken to hospital and detained.

Speaking to the media, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke said:

“RSS elements dressed in police uniforms committed an extremely cowardly act by forcibly detaining Sonam Wangchuk. Following this condemnable action, we demand not only the resignation of the education minister but also the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
